Yesterday, June 3rd, marks the opening of the first international conference in the Kyrgyz Republic on Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM), with a theme of "2015 LSCM Seminar: Challenges, Innovations, and Practical Advice" at the City Hotel in Bishkek. 
 

Academic life is almost finished for the seniors of AUCA. One of the brightest students of 2015 is Iurii Kim. He is a graduate of the Economics Department. Iurii shares his impressions and experience of these four years at AUCA. 

Chair of General Education Department and professor of Sociology Department at AUCA, Galina Gorborukova, contributed to the publication of a research “When salary is not Enough… Private Households in Central Asia”. The book presents a cross-country, rural-urban comparison in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan based on secondary data and quantitative and qualitative primary research.

Abstract: The aim of this research was to investigate and understand the impact that Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Customs Union will have on food security in Kyrgyzstan.
 

At 21 years old, Iurii Piunov, a senior student in economics, is well-known for his talent as a debater at the American University of Central Asia. Since he joined the AUCA debate club “Eloquent Crew” in 2011, Iura has participated in many local and international tournaments.

Students of Anthropology have been engaged in the realization of the ethnographic project “Memories of the 1916 rebellion” supported by the Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) and Anthropology Department. The aim was to reconstruct an objective picture of the 1916 Great Revolt in Kyrgyzstan by gathering stories of elderly people. During two months, from March 3 to May 3, 2015, students and their supervisor, Aida Abdykanova, visited 4 provinces: Chui, Issyk-Kul, Osh and Jalalabad.  

Always cleanly dressed, he can be seen from time to time hunched over recycling bins, checking if the recyclables have been thrown in the appropriate place. Martin Ossewaarde settled in Bishkek 17 years ago. Assistant professor at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, he is teaching sustainable development, a topic he is passionate about.

For me AUCA was not only a school of academic learning, it taught me to survive, to strive and finally to achieve. It was not always easy, especially in the beginning, but definitely it was worth it.

Reyhana Turdieva, a student of the Sociology Department at AUCA, presents her first photo exhibition “The Internship” in Bravo, which will be held till May 2. The exhibition is a result of a photography trip she did in January in the United Arab Emirates with Dr. Hersh Chadha, photographer, philanthropist and AUCA’s long-term supporter.
