From July 23 to July 31, 2025, the International Summer School organized by Kyungpook National University (Korea) jointly with a number of local universities, such as AUCA, KNU and Osh State University, on the theme “KNU Young Frontiers” was held in Bishkek, Issyk-Kul and Osh. Professor Cholponbek Ormukov, Head of the Department of Environmental Sustainability and Climate Science, and professor Murataly Duishonakunov, Department of General Education Programs, participated in this summer school from AUCA. Students Jumasheva Nestana and Mederova Darika from the ESCS program also took participated. The main topic of the event was climate change, geohazards, rational use of water resources, development of intercultural relations and socio-economic development of communities in Kyrgyzstan. The summer school program was aimed at familiarizing international and local students with the above-mentioned issues of the region, as well as developing their independent research skills in close interaction with professors and peers. The school participants studied natural risks, changes in the state of glaciers and reservoirs, as well as water supply issues for drinking needs and irrigation. The school included field trips to high mountain regions and lowland agricultural lands, including farm fields and rural communities. This allowed the participants to get acquainted with the consequences of climate change and their impact on the daily life of the local population on the spot. In addition, the results of research conducted in these regions were presented, which contributed to an in-depth scientific discussion and knowledge exchange between the participants. Particular attention was paid to intercultural interaction and academic exchange during the school. One of the key goals of the event was to strengthen cooperation between universities, exchange experiences and create a platform for future joint projects and research. The international summer school was an important step in the development of environmental education, training of young specialists and the formation of an international network of researchers interested in the sustainable development of the region. Participation in such programs contributes not only to the scientific growth of students, but also to the formation of a responsible attitude to global environmental and socio-economic challenges.
